Electrostatic treatment process on two types of ESD clothes

At present, ESD clothes are mainly made of conductive yarn containing conductive fiber and conventional yarn with certain technology. The conductive function of conductive fiber is realized by electronic conductive mechanism without humidity dependence; Its charge half-life is very short, and it can eliminate static electricity in a very short time in any case.

Textile fibers and their products mostly belong to polymer materials. The conductive mechanism of polymers can be divided into two types: electron conduction and ion conduction: the carriers of electron conduction are electrons and holes; The carriers of ionic conductivity are positive and negative ions. The elimination of static electricity in Antistatic Fabrics and clothing made of conductive fiber and conventional fiber is the result of the combined action of electronic conductivity and ionic conductivity.

The mechanism of eliminating static electricity in Antistatic Fabrics and clothing containing conductive fibers is related to whether the conductive fibers are grounded.

Here are two categories:

  • Electrostatic treatment process on ungrounded ESD clothes

  • Electrostatic treatment process on grounded ESD clothes

Electrostatic treatment process on ungrounded ESD clothes

The treatment process of static electricity on ungrounded ESD clothes is roughly as follows:

1. ESD clothes are charged due to friction, contact, separation, etc;

2. The charge generated in the fabric or clothing (charged body) collects into the ESD clothes, which induces the charge opposite to the charge symbol on the fabric or clothing;

3. Strong electric field is induced near the ESD clothes, so that the surrounding air is ionized by the electric field;

4. Among the positive and negative ions generated by corona discharge, the ions with the opposite nature of the charge carried by the fabric or clothing move to the fabric or clothing, neutralize with the charge carried by the fabric or clothing, and eliminate static electricity.

Electrostatic treatment process on grounded ESD clothes

The electrostatic treatment process on grounded ESD clothes is roughly as follows:

At the same time of corona discharge, the induced charge accumulates around the ESD clothes and then leaks into the earth. When the charged body (fabric or clothing) is close to the grounded ESD clothes, positive and negative ions are generated around the ESD clothes, in which the ions opposite to the charge carried by the charged body move to the charged body for neutralization, and the ions with the same charge as the charged body leak to the earth through the electrostatic work clothes, so that the static electricity is eliminated.

When using low proportion metal fiber ESD clothes, the conductive fiber is not grounded;

When only anti-static clothing is worn, the conductive fiber is not grounded

When anti-static clothing is worn and anti-static shoes and socks are also worn, it is conductive fiber grounding.
