ESD clothes are clothes made of ESD fabric according to the specified style and structural plane in order to prevent the accumulation of static electricity on clothes. ESD clothes generally refer to clothes made of ESD fabric. What are the fabrics suitable for making ESD clothes?

The following is a list of contents:

  •  Conductive silk

  • Polyester cotton anti-static fabric

  • Conductive cloth

  • Comparison of ESD fabric

Conductive silk

Conductive silk is a fabric widely used in making ESD clothes. It is composed of 99% polyester filament and 1% conductive fiber. The conductive silk is generally made of carbon fiber, and the conductive silk is evenly distributed on the fabric, which is the reason why the surface of the conductive silk presents a black strip shape. Generally speaking, the more conductive wires used in the fabric, the better the performance of ESD clothes. According to the different layout and spacing of conductive fibers, conductive silk is divided into different specifications such as 0.5 grain, 0.5 grid, 0.25 strip and 0.25 grid.

Polyester cotton anti-static fabric

Polyester anti-static fabric is a commonly used anti-static fabric, which is generally used in the production of outdoor ESD clothes. It is made of polyester, cotton fiber and conductive fiber. According to the different cotton content, polyester anti-static fabrics are divided into T65 / C35 fabrics, T80 / C20 fabrics and CVC fabrics with cotton content of more than 50%. The difference between polyester anti-static fabric and conductive silk is that conductive fiber is not visible on the front of polyester cotton anti-static fabric. It is evenly distributed on the back of anti-static overalls. Common specifications include 1.0 stripes, 1.0 grids, 1.5 stripes, etc.

Conductive cloth

The conductive cloth is a composite metal film conductive cloth with five layers of metal film system, which is made of polyester triangular shaped wire, light spinning and 36F wire as the cloth base, nickel and copper metal films are deposited successively by vacuum method, and then nickel, copper and nickel elements are deposited successively by electroplating method. Conductive cloth has the advantages of good adhesion of metal film, good curing and high electromagnetic shielding efficiency. It can be widely used in electromagnetic shielding, anti-static, grounding and other occasions, such as manufacturing smart phones, wearable devices, liquid crystal displays, automatic high-frequency equipment, medical instruments and other electronic products, and plays a very important role in the field of military industry and aerospace.

Comparison of ESD fabric

In terms of specific use, the conductive wire in the polyester cotton anti-static fabric is mainly embedded in the back of the fabric to facilitate the beauty and flatness of the fabric. The back of the fabric is a semiconductor and the front of the fabric is an insulator. Therefore, after using polyester cotton anti-static fabric to make ready-made clothes, the main elimination is only the static electricity generated by the friction between clothes and human body, which can not eliminate the static electricity generated by the friction with external equipment, and there is still charge accumulation on the front of clothes.

Conductive cloth fabric adds conductive fibers to the yarn in the textile process. The front and back of the fabric belong to semiconductors, and the positive and negative charges on the cloth surface can be conducted and offset each other. It can quickly and evenly eliminate the static electricity generated by the human body and clothing and the static electricity generated on the clothing surface in contact with the outside world. The clothing has no charge accumulation. In the oil field, petrochemical, refining, chemical and other industries, the main purpose of wearing ESD fabric and related protective articles is to eliminate the static electricity generated by the outside world and human body, avoid charge accumulation and eliminate the potential safety hazards caused by sparks generated during electrostatic discharge. Therefore, in most high-risk industries, the protective performance of conductive fabric has been accepted. The use of conductive fabric not only improves the anti-static performance, but also reduces the potential safety hazards.
